96% of AI Overview citations come from sources with strong E-E-A-T signals. That number, from Wellows' analysis of 2,400 citations, tells you that E-E-A-T isn't a nice-to-have in AI search. It's a gatekeeper. If your content doesn't demonstrate it, you're not in the pool.

But E-E-A-T has four pillars: Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness. AI-generated content can mimic expertise. It can replicate authoritative tone.
